Event Description

Southern Oregon Kite Festival

Southern Oregon Kite Festival (SOKF) has been one of the premier kite festivals in the United States. Since 1993 it has brought some of the most well known kite fliers and kite makers to perform and display their creations for locals and tourists alike. This invitational event originated as the dream of kite hobbyist Steve O’Brien and as the creation of Larry and Lynn Goodman, former owners of KCRE radio station in Crescent City, California. Beginning in 2001 the Port of Brookings Harbor assumed sponsorship of the festival. In 2006 the kite festival became a non-profit organization managed by a dedicated group of community volunteers.

Check out the Kite Festival Website for more details Local vendors and artists set up their booths to provide great eats, treats, knick-knacks and crafts… Located on the southern Oregon coast, Brookings also offers uncharacteristically good weather for the state, scenic rivers and forests, as well as a wealth of outdoor activities for families and individuals alike.
