In case of extreme long-term, degraded air quality (smoke), the Up & Down ride will be cancelled two weeks before the event. Entry fees will be returned to registrants minus the processing fee.
All riders must check in before the ride to receive maps, cue sheets and wrist bands. Check in will be available on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 at the Grove in Ashland and from 7:00-9:00 a.m. at Emigrant Lake.
All riders must be on the course by 9:00 a.m.
From Emigrant Lake, cyclists have a leisurely 5 miles before the road starts climbing in S-curves into the Cascades. Riders will enjoy a break and water stop a few miles up the strenuous 7-mile Greensprings climb. At mile 15, the rest stop at Tub Springs State Park will offer weary riders extensive refreshments and cold, clear spring water. Shade and picnic tables will entice riders to spend a few minutes reliving their recent exertions. Another rest stop at Howard Prairie Resort (mile 27) will be well-stocked with offerings to replenish the efforts of the morning so far. The resort features a lake with docks and sailboats, bathrooms, showers and even a store with soft-serve ice cream! Finally the climbing is over at the Dead Indian Memorial Road summit (mile 34), where we will offer a water break and encouragement before the final steep, winding, exhilarating descent.
